Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and his Aussie girlfriend Orianthi have announced they’re calling it splits, but on a surprisingly bright note.
There appeared to be no bad blood between the two guitarists, who have been dating and performing together as duo RSO since 2014.
But while the breakup might spell the end of their four-year relationship, in a statement released to TMZ, they suggested the musical flame is likely to reignite, and fans could be in store for more tunes.
“Thank u (sic.) to all our fans who have bought the new RSO record (Rise) and attended our shows, we love and appreciate you all,” TMZ quoted the pair as saying.
“We love and support each other but are taking the summer off to focus on family and other endeavours.
“We will regroup in the near future with our music. Peace and love to you all and thank you for your continued support.”
Sambora met his former girlfriend through friend and music legend Alice Cooper — Orianthi’s former employer — after leaving Bon Jovi in 2013.
He fell head over heels for the “guitar goddess”, who’s played with huge stars including Prince and Michael Jackson, and immediately asked Cooper “who the hell is that?”.
Sambora told Guitar World in 2017 the pair didn’t think about keeping their musical lives separate in the early days of their romance.
“There was no hesitation with anything,” Sambora said.
“We dove right in and became a couple right away.”
According to the Huffington Post, Orianthi said last year: “I’m so happy I’ve met Richie, and we’ve made this beautiful music together.”
